To the author

Annemarie Clostermann manages to prepare specialist knowledge in a form that makes it possible to trace the life of this musician, who is not only very important for Hamburg, in small stories so vividly that it is also comprehensible for our lives and emotions today.
The preface and the texts by François Maher Presley on the Telemann sculptures complete the book and make Telemann's life in Hamburg tangible.
A bronze bust is in the Museum of Hamburg History. There is a terracotta bust in each Telemann Museum in Hamburg, in the Christianeum, where Telemann taught, a marble bust in the Laeiszhalle (Music hall) in Hamburg.
from the content

Every time you cross the Rathausmarkt and turn towards the old town, you are literally following in the footsteps of Georg Philipp Telemann. For almost half a century he walked here in the performance of his daily professional duties. Where the town hall stands today, there was the Johanneum in its time, in the 18th century. Telemann worked as a music teacher at this school of scholars. At the same time, he was appointed by the City Council of Hamburg to supply the five main churches as church music director with music.
