Otto Wilhelm von Schönburg lebte mit seiner Familie im Schloss Rochsburg, wo es nach dem Tod des Vaters zu einem Erbstreit kommt. Der älteste Bruder will Otto Wilhelm als Erben auslöschen. Mithilfe eines Zauberers wird der jüngere schließlich in einen Kater verwandelt, der nun nicht mehr erben und nur ein Mensch werden kann, wenn er eine junge Dame findet, die ihn als Kater liebt und heiratet. Doch wird Kater Arthur, wie er nun heißt, diese Dame finden?
